See a buzz cut on your own head before you shave

A buzz cut is the most commitment-free haircut to maintain and the least forgiving to undo. Once it is gone, it takes months to get your old length back. That is why a buzz cut filter is worth a minute of your time: it shows how your head shape, hairline, ears and jaw look with almost no hair framing them — the things a buzz cut puts on display.

Swap Hairstyle edits the photo you upload rather than placing a sticker over it. The AI removes the length, follows the shape of your head and keeps your face, skin tone, beard and background as they are, so you get a realistic preview you can judge or show to a barber. If you do not like it, there is no grow-out — just try another hairstyle.

Buzz or crew

Start with the shortest cuts in the library: a dense crew cut with a slightly raised front, a compact diagonal crew and close-faded Caesar crops. The library does not have a clipper-length buzz preset yet, so for a true #1–#4 buzz, describe it in the chat.

Any guard length

Want something specific? Describe it in the chat: "#1 all over", "#3 on top, #1 on the sides", "buzz with a skin fade". The AI hairstylist applies it to the same photo, so you can compare lengths side by side.

Keep your beard

The edit focuses on the hair on your head. A beard or stubble in your photo stays, which matters — a buzz cut changes how a beard reads, and you want to see both together.

Not just for men

A buzz cut can look striking on anyone. Upload any portrait and ask for a buzz cut in the chat; the AI changes only the hair.

Is a buzz cut right for you?

A few things decide whether a buzz cut looks intentional or accidental:

  • Head shape. A buzz shows the shape of your skull. Bumps or a flat back are easier to see at #1 than at #3 or #4.
  • Hairline. A receding hairline is often less noticeable with a very short cut than with longer hair combed over it.
  • Face shape. Strong jaws and defined cheekbones suit a buzz; rounder faces often look better with a little more length on top, like a crew cut or a textured crop.
  • Ears and scars. Everything that hair currently covers will be visible.
  • The 3/2/1 idea. Many barbers suggest starting longer (a #3) and going shorter only if you like it — a preview lets you see #3, #2 and #1 before you choose.

How to use the buzz cut filter

01 Upload a clear portrait

Face the camera, use even light and make sure your current hairline and ears are visible. Take off hats and headphones.

02 Pick a buzz or crew cut

Choose a style from the presets, or describe the guard length and fade you want in the chat.

03 Compare lengths

The preview arrives in about a minute. Download it, then use Try another hairstyle to compare a different length or a crop on the same photo.

Buzz Cut Filter — Common Questions

Is there a filter that shows me with a buzz cut?

Yes. Upload a photo here, pick a buzz or crew cut, and the AI shows the cut on your own head while keeping your face and background as they are.

Is the buzz cut filter free?

Browsing the library and creating an account are free. Each try-on uses 50 credits with the default model; credits come with a monthly or yearly plan (from $8.90 a month billed yearly), and if a generation fails its credits are returned.

Is the buzz cut filter accurate?

It is a realistic preview of the look, not a scan of your scalp. The AI cannot see scars, birthmarks or the exact shape of your head under thick hair, so the real cut may reveal details the preview cannot.

Can I choose the guard length?

The library has buzz and crew cuts at different lengths, and you can ask the AI hairstylist for a specific guard, such as "#2 all over" or "#1 sides, #3 top".

Does it work for women?

Yes. Upload any portrait and ask for a buzz cut; the edit only changes the hair.

Will it remove my beard?

No. The edit focuses on your head hair. If you want to see yourself without a beard as well, ask for it in the chat.
